DESCRIPTION
Bell Shakespeare is Australia’s national Shakespeare company, giving a contemporary edge to the classic plays. Christopher Doyle & Co. have worked with Bell Shakespeare since the studio opened in 2013. Each year we were tasked with creating a concept for the upcoming season, to capture the energy and essence of the productions.
For the 2023 season, we wanted to highlight the actors, capturing the nuances in their performances, which often aren’t visible in a live theatre context. The colour-rich photoshoot was styled to allow for bold, colourful typography to be overlaid to allow each show.
My role was to help concept, produce and art direct this photoshoot, then designing the season brochure and campaigns with this photography. The result is a season of striking portraiture with vibrant colour and typography, giving audiences front row seats to these performers.
